BRUSSELS, December 6. /TASS/. The main purpose of the trilateral ministerial meeting of Russia, Ukraine and the European Union on gas in Brussels on December 9 is to provide guarantees of uninterrupted gas supply to the EU and Ukraine in winter, a source in diplomatic sources in Brussels told TASS.
"The goal of the trilateral talks is to guarantee that the scenario of crises of 2006 and 2009 will not repeat in conditions of strained relations between Ukraine and Russia, and that the Russian gas will be exported smoothly to the EU and Ukraine," the source said.
According to the source, management of Gazprom and Naftogaz is expected to attend trilateral ministerial meeting of Russia, Ukraine and the European Union on gas in Brussels on December 9.
"The meeting will be held in the usual format with participation of Russian and Ukrainian energy ministers (Alexander Novak and Igor Nasalik), Vice President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic and management of interested companies - Gazprom and Naftogaz," the source said.
Maros Sefcovic is the main European organizer of this meeting, although the European Commission has not officially confirmed it yet.
