Kiev plans to discuss Russian gas purchases on December 9 — Naftogaz

Ukraine may start buying gas directly from Russia if Moscow agrees to Kiev’s proposals, including on price, terms of delivery and on signing an additional agreement, the Naftogaz chief said

KIEV, December 6. /TASS/. Kiev plans to discuss Russian gas supplies at a three-party meeting of Russia, Ukraine and the European Union, tentatively scheduled for December 9, the head of Ukraine’s national oil and gas company Naftogaz said Monday.

"The talks will focus on the ‘winter package’ for the next winter," Andrey Kobolev said, adding that Ukraine may resume direct purchases of Russian gas if Moscow agrees on a number of Kiev’s proposals, including on "price, terms of delivery, and, most importantly, on signing an additional agreement."

He said that an additional agreements, that Kiev wants to sign with Russia, should handle issues of gas pricing.

Ukraine also demands that Russia stops delivering gas to eastern Ukrainian regions that are not controlled by the Kiev government.

Kiev stopped buying gas directly from Russia more than a year ago.
