Gazprom expects global gas consumption to grow by one third in 15 years

ST. PETERSBURG, October 4. /TASS/. Russia’ gas giant Gazprom expects global gas consumption to grow by 30% from the current 3.5 trillion cubic meters within 15 years, Chairman of the company’s management committee Alexey Miller said at a gas forum on Tuesday.

"We’ll evidence a sustainable growth of global gas trade. Our projection is that within the nearest 25 years average global annual growth rates of gas consumption will be 3.5 times higher than those of liquid hydrocarbons and coal. Thus, literally within 15 years the volume of global gas consumption will surge by 30%," he said, adding that "today’s global gas consumption amounts to around 3.5 trillion cubic meters per year.".
