Gas reserves at newly discovered Far East fieled estimated at over 40 bln cubic meters

Gazprom discovered the new field while conducting prospecting works at the Kirinsky section of the Sakhalin-3 project in the Sea of Okhotsk

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, September 29. /TASS/. Russia’s gas giant Gazprom has estimated reserves of the newly discovered Yuzhno-Lunskoye field in the Sea of Okhotsk at 40 billion cubic meters of gas, or even more, Vsevolod Cherepanov, Gazprom’s board member and chief of department 307, said on Thursday.

According to Cherepanov, this is a preliminary estimation. "Preliminarily, one well’s reserves stand at 40 billion," he said, adding that another well might be drilled later on and hence the reserve might be much bigger.

He said this is a big gas condensate filed. No oil has been found.
