VIENTIANE, September 8. /TASS/. Russia’s and Laos’ governments have signed an agreement of mutual vasa abandonment. The document was inked on Thursday in the presence of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Laotian President Bounnyang Vorachit.
Apart from that, an agreement on cooperation to prevent legalization of criminally earned incomes and financing terrorism was signed between Russia’s financial monitoring service and Laos’ financial intelligence department for prevention of money laundry.
Medvedev arrived in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, to attend the 11th East Asia Summit (EAS). He will represent Russia on instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The signing ceremony was preceded by talks between the Russian prime minister and the Laotian president who thanked Medvedev for his coming to Vientiane, saying his visit is of essential importance for the development of relations between Russia and Asian countries.
Medvedev, in turn, congratulated Vorachit on being elected Laotian president [he took the presidential office in April].
