Hokkaido governor offers plan to boost ties with Russia

The proposals cover the issues of food safety, alleviation of living conditions in regions with cold climates, nature protection and the opening of air traffic routes

VLADIVOSTOK, September 2. /TASS/. Harumi Takahashi, the Governor of the Japanese prefecture of Hokkaido, on Friday put forward a five-point plan of cooperation with Russia.

Takahashi stated at the Russian-Japanese business forum that her proposals cover the issues of "food safety, health and longevity, alleviation of living conditions in regions with cold climates, nature protection, local production, use of energy resources and the opening of air traffic routes."

The governor hoped that her package of proposals will boost Russian-Japanese cooperation.
