Energy Ministry expects LNG consumption in Russia, EAEU to rise to 5 mln tonnes by 2035

LNG consumption has virtually doubled over the past 15 years, and the trend will persist

ST. PETERSBURG, July 15. /TASS/. Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will boost its consumption of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to 5 mln tonnes per year by 2035, Russia’s Deputy Energy Minister Kirill Molodtsov said Friday.

"Currently the LNG market is the fastest growing and in this respect we expect the consumption of liquefied natural gas to reach around 5 mln tonnes (per year - TASS) by 2035," he said.

According to Molodtsov, LNG consumption has virtually doubled over the past 15 years, and the trend will persist.

Earlier Russia’s Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that global LNG consumption would double in the nearest future from 300 to 600 mln tonnes per year.
