Zero weekly inflation recorded in Russia first time in 2016

MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. Russia's weekly inflation rate declined to zero on the week from May 31 to June 6 but rose 2.9% from the year beginning, the Federal State Statistics Service Rosstat said on Wednesday. The zero weekly inflation was registered for the first time this year.

According to Rosstat data, inflation declined to 7.2% on an annualized basis as of June 6.

For comparison, inflation equaled 0.2% as of the end of June 2015 and 8.5% from 2015 year-beginning.

Buckwheat prices hiked 1.5% in the reporting period. Granulated sugar prices rose 0.5%. Caramel, tea and vermicelli prices grew 0.3%. Eggs prices at the same time declined 3%. Pork, salt, flour, rice and miller prices went down by 0.2-0.5%.

Fruit and vegetable prices declined 1% on average. Potato prices grew 6%. Onions and carrots prices were up 2.4% and 1.8%. Fresh cucumbers and tomatoes prices declined 9.6% and 5.1% respectively. Cabbage prices dropped 6.2%.

Motor gasoline and diesel fuel prices grew 0.1% in the reporting period, Rosstat reports.
