Lukoil mulls creation of consortium with CNPC on Nasyriyah project in Iraq

Lukoil is also discussing with the Iraqi authorities creation of a joint venture on the block adjacent to the West Qurna - 2

VIENNA, June 1. /TASS/. Russia’s Lukoil and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) are considering creation of consortium on the Nasyriyah project in Iraq, Lukoil’s President Vagit Alekperov told reporters on the sidelines of the coming OPEC summit

"This will be a consortium," he said when answering the question on cooperation with CNPC.

Earlier Alekperov said that his company is in talks with CNPC on this project.

Joint venture on the block adjacent to West Qurna -2

 Lukoil is also discussing with the Iraqi authorities creation of a joint venture on the block adjacent to the West Qurna - 2.

"We discussed the activities of our company, plus we are starting exploratory drilling on the block 10. We also discussed the time of signing final documents, the creation of the joint venture on the block 2, which is attached to West Qurna - 2. We are very interested in this project," he said.
