Indian minister for commerce and industry to lead delegation to SPIEF

NEW DELHI, May 24. /TASS/. India’s delegation to the Petersburg International Economic Forum will be led by Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman, Sergei Ceheremin, director of Moscow’s department of foreign economic and international ties and chairman of the board of the Business Council for Cooperation with India, told TASS on Tuesday.

"Development of relations with India is among priority tasks of the Moscow city government," he said. "We have had a series of important negotiations to expand the spectrum and level of cooperation between our countries. At a meeting with Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman, we discussed issues of expanding mutual trade and cooperation in the electricity generation, coal and machine-building sectors."

Cheremin invited the Indian delegation to take part in the Petersburg International Economic Forum due to be in June 2016. "Nirmala Sitharaman accepted the invitation and said she plans to lead the Indian delegation to the forum," he said. "I am sure the business roundtable meeting on Russia-India economic partnership within the Petersburg International Economic Forum will help expand trade and economic cooperation between our countries."

The 20th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will held in Russia’s second largest city of St. Petersburg on June 16 through June 18, 2016. Russia’s Roscongress state-run fund that was established last year will host the forum. Key topics for discussion will include a new economic reality and new sources for growth.
