Indonesia’s crude consumption of interest for oil producers — Rosneft CEO

According to Igor Sechin, Indonesia, which used to be highly ranked in the global oil and gas sector in the recent past, is experiencing a decline in output

SOCHI, May 19. /TASS/. Indonesia is one of the world’s ten countries with crude consumption growth rates triggering long-term interest of oil companies, President of Russia’s top crude producer Rosneft Igor Sechin said Thursday.

"Indonesia is one of ten countries where consumption growth will ensure long-term interest of oil companies," Sechin said when asked why Rosneft is taking interest in construction of a refinery in the country.

According to Sechin, Indonesia, which used to be highly ranked in the global oil and gas sector in the recent past, is experiencing a decline in output.

"Whereas 10 years ago the country produced 71 mln tonnes of oil today it is 38 mln while by 2030 it is going to be 11 mln. This comes amid growing consumption. Of course, this fact is triggering our interest both regarding supplies and refinery, and trading," he added.
