Russian-Japan economic cooperation basis for understanding — Deputy PM

The economic cooperation between Russia and Japan is laying the foundation for developing bilateral relationship and solving issues in other areas, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev

TOKYO, May 17. /TASS/. The economic cooperation between Russia and Japan is laying the foundation for developing bilateral relationship and solving issues in other areas, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev said Tuesday when asked whether his visit to Tokyo and the development of economic cooperation between the two countries in general, will facilitate a solution to the territorial issue.

"I’m involved in economy, not politics, but I’m confident that the economy lays the foundation for mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation. By developing cooperation we will proceed in the right direction and bring positive results both to Russia and Japan, which will give answers to many questions," Trutnev said, adding that he is not in charge of political issues between Moscow and Tokyo.
