European Commission receives Ukraine’s consent to trilateral gas meeting

Vice President Maros Sefcovic earlier sent letters to the Russian and Ukrainian energy ministers

BRUSSELS, April 26. /TASS/. The European Commission (EC) received consent from the Ukraine’s energy ministry to the trilateral gas talks, a EC representative told TASS on Tuesday.

"As re-iterated many times before, the Commission stands ready as a mediator to peruse the path of trilateral gas talks EU-Russia-Ukraine if both sides wish so. Respective assistance has been offered in a letter sent by [EC] Vice President Maros Sefcovic to the Russian and Ukrainian Energy Ministers. The Commission has received a positive reply by the Ukrainian Minister," the EC said.

According to press secretary of the Russian Minister Olga Golant, the Russian Ministry Energy has not received an invitation to participate in trilateral talks.

At the same time, the EC refused to indicate any possible meeting dates. "Too early to discuss any potential date," its representative said.
