SINGAPORE, February 16. /TASS/. Asia’s largest air show - Singapore Airshow 2016 - is opening on Tuesday. Members of its organizing committee have told TASS that more than 1,000 companies from nearly 50 countries will take part in it.

"France, which has received special partner status this year, is represented by 42 companies. The United States has the biggest national pavilion where 116 companies are represented. Singapore, the host country, is represented by 104 companies. Taking part in the air show are also 22 companies from the UK, 19 - from Japan, 16 - from Australia, 16 - from Germany, 10 - from China, 7 - from Switzerland and 3 from Malaysia. The Russian pavilion includes 3 companies," the organizers said.

They expect that the total amount of the contracts to be concluded at the show will exceed the showing of two years ago. "In 2014, contracts worth about $32 billion were signed at the air show, which is a 3-percent increase compared to Singapore Airshow 2012," members of the organizing committee said.

According to a spokesman for the United Aircraft Corporation, its civilian airliners have good prospects in the Asia-Pacific region. "According to UAC’s estimates, Sukhoi Superjet aircraft could capture up to 15% of the market in the region, and sales are expected to exceed 150 aircraft," he said.
