First tests of Russia's new MS-21 aircraft planned by end of 2016 — minister

Recently, the media reported that the wheel out of the MS-21 and the first flight were postponed for several months

MOSCOW, December 29. /TASS/. The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) plans to conduct the first flight test of MS-21 aircraft by the end of 2016, Russia’s Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said in an interview with TASS.

"Recently, the media reported that the wheel out of the MS-21 and the first flight were postponed for several months, and the aircraft is being built on the base on the development from the 1990s ...That is what they have come to in their statements! But this aircraft has been developed completely from scratch since 2008. Indeed we will slightly postpone the wheel out, we need to achieve a high quality of new composite technology, so I think that it is a totally unjustified risk to commission unfinished aircraft. We will do the wheel out in the middle of next year and by the end of the year will come to the flight tests,"- the minister said.
