Russia's Berezovskaya power plant's new 800 MW power unit launched

KRASNOYARSK, December 1. /TASS/. E.ON Russia launched power unit 3 for 800 MW at the Berezovskaya thermal power plant in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, TASS reports from the official launch ceremony held Tuesday.

Total investment volume in the construction of the facility amounted to €1 bln.

"With the commissioning of the new power unit coal Berezovskaya TPP consumption will increase by 3 mln tonnes per year - up to 9 mln tonnes," Director of the station Vladimir Borisov said.

According to Clauss Schaffer, member of the Board of management of E.ON Russia, over the last 40 years the company could always find "a favorable atmosphere for business" in Russia.

Construction of the project, which began in 2011 - is the final project of the E.ON Russia investment program. Its construction was carried out exclusively by E.ON without debt funds.

As TASS reported earlier, new power unit was put into operation at the end of September this year.

Berezovskaya TPP Branch of E.ON Russia JSC is located in the Sharypovo district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The plant is operated using lignites. Installed capacity - 1,600 MW. Following the results of the year 2014, the electric power generation amounted to 9.05 billion kWh, heat output - 715 thousand Gcal.

Berezovskaya HEPP is the only power plant in Russia with 800 MW power units where coal is used as fuel, all the rest of the heat power plants with same power units are operated using gas. The power plant is operated as part of the unified energy system of Siberia.
