"We won’t participate in the tender," he said.
Naftogaz and other Ukrainian companies may participate in auctions on purchasing gas under short-term contracts launched by Gazprom Export in case Ukraine needs gas on its western border, the source added.
As TASS reported earlier the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development /EBRD/ granted Ukraine a $300 mln loan for pumping gas in its underground storage facilities. Gas should be delivered via the country’s western border, meaning from Europe. In order to receive those funds participation in tender is needed under conditions defined by the bank for suppliers.
Gazprom Export has already held its first auction on gas exports under short-term contracts. The next auction is planned for late 2015 - early 2016.
