Azerbaijan interested in developing ties with Russia — Deputy Minister of Economy

Currently, around 600 companies with Russian capital operate in the country

BAKU, October 26. /TASS/. Azerbaijan is interested in developing economic ties with Russia, the country’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Sevinj Hasanova said on Monday.

"We keep our ties with Russian colleagues at top level," she said, adding that since "we all stem from the USSR we haven’t lost but have developed the Russian language here" in Azerbaijan.

Currently, "around 600 companies with Russian capital" operate in the country, Deputy Minister said. "We also invest in the Russian economy, with our investment exceeding $1 bln," she added.

Trade turnover between the two countries is "quite high", Gasanova said, as Russia was placed the 4th among trade and economic partners of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the 1st in terms of supplies to the country.

Deputy Minister also said Azerbaijan closely cooperates with such Russian regions as Dagestan, St. Petersburg, Astrakhan and Moscow.
