Russia and Ukraine fail to agree on canceling mutual bans on flights

The flight connection between Russia and Ukraine will be stopped from October 25

BRUSSELS, October 23. /TASS/. Russia and Ukraine has not reached an agreement on cancelling mutual bans on flights at the consultations in Brussels on Friday, a diplomatic source in Brussels told TASS.

"Aviation authorities of Russia and Ukraine held expert consultations on air service in Brussels today. The negotiations are completed, the official results will be announced after the parties inform their leadership," the source said.

When asked whether an agreement is reached on the mutual abolition of restrictions on flights between Russia and Ukraine, he said: "No."

He added that there's no information about possible consultations between the aviation authorities on October 24.

Earlier on Friday, Russia’s Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said that the authorities of the two countries would mull a possibility not to disrupt the air flight connection from October 25. The talks will be held in Brussels on Saturday, October 24, he said.

"Depending on the talks’ results we will see if we can come to agreements which allow us not to stop the flight connection," he said.

In his turn, Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister Andrey Pivovarsky said that the flight connection between Russia and Ukraine will be stopped from October 25.
