Kiev to sign agreement with EBRD on $300 mln loan for gas purchases — minister

The loan will be spent first of all on reverse purchases of gas from the EU countries

KIEV, October 22. /TASS/. Ukraine will sign an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on raising a $300 mln loan for importing natural gas to pump in its underground storage facilities, Ukraine’s Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Vladimir Demchishin said on Thursday.

"I think the agreement will be signed in the nearest future, today or tomorrow," he said.

According to Demchishin, the loan will be spent first of all on reverse purchases of gas from the EU countries.

Currently, Ukraine imports around 10 mln cubic meters of gas from Europe per day while its daily gas purchases from Russia stand at 110-115 mln cubic meters.
