Georgia interested in larger gas volumes from Russia

Georgia is also interested in buying gas from Russian independent producers, Georgia’s Energy Minister said

TBILISI, October 8. /TASS/. Georgia is interested in larger gas volumes from Russia, Georgia’s Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze said on Thursday.

Currently, Georgia imports gas mainly from Azerbaijan, he said.

"But it possible to get large volumes of gas from Russia at competitive prices (in comparison with Azeri prices - TASS)", he said.

Kaladze said that he had already spoken with Alexei Miller, CEO of Russian gas giant Gazprom, in Brussels at a meeting where gas transit to third countries was discussed.

Georgia is also interested in buying gas from Russian independent producers, Kaldze said.

"Georgia is interested in supplies of Iranian gas via Armenia. We should not be dependent on only one supplier," he added.
