Visa cards will work normally in Russia after October 1

The company sent a notice to banks last week regarding the need to send all Russian transactions for processing directly to the Russia’s National System of Payment Cards (NSPC)

MOSCOW, September 28. /TASS/. Cards of Visa international payment system will work normally in Russia after October 1, press service of Visa told TASS on Monday.

"We confirm Visa cards in Russia will work in normal way after October 1, 2015," Visa’s representative said.

The company sent a notice to banks last week regarding the need to send all Russian transactions for processing directly to the Russia’s National System of Payment Cards (NSPC) and eliminate cases of wrong transmission of Russian transactions to the VisaNet system, Visa said.

"We reiterate the given service communication to banks is unrelated to operability of Visa cards in Russia and will not affect the cardholders in any respect," Visa said.

According to Kommersant newspaper, the migration of banks to the NSPC processing has not yet been completed and the letter sent by Visa actually confirms this.

The migration to the NSPC processing will take at least one more month, according to estimates of market participants.
