NOVO-OGARYOVO. September 7. /TASS/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said on Monday he hopes his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin will help find solution to problems of energy prices.

"A key problem is the price for energy sources. In this crisis situation, currency fluctuations are very painful for tariffs. I hope very much that we will find a new solution, a good solution," he said.

Sargsyan said the launch of the Eurasian Economic Union had opened the way for a new cooperation format and much was to be done to develop this integration association. "We are ready for this work. We are interested in the soonest implementation of the principle of free movement of goods, capital, services and labour force," he added.

Russia and Armenia sign deal on gas discount

Russia and Armenia have signed an agreement on Russian gas pricing offering a discount of $25 for one cubic meter.

"Today, we signed an agreement with the energy ministry, under which the gas price will be lowered by $25 to $165," Sargsyan said.

Two protocols in the gas sector were prepared for signing during Sargsyan’s visit to Moscow. They are a protocol on amendments to the agreement on purchase and sale of shares and further activities of ArmRosgazprom Co, and a protocol on the pricing procedure for Russian natural gas sold to Armenia.

"These documents are based on earlier agreement on lowering prices on Russian gas from January 2015 after Armenia’s joining the Eurasian Economic Union," according to the documents prepared for Sargsyan’s visit to Russia.
