Russian government approves acquisition of Transaero by Aeroflot

On Tuesday, the commission chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov approved the purchase 75% plus one share of Transaero by Aeroflot

 

MOSCOW, September 1. /TASS/. The interdepartmental commission chaired by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov approved the acquisition of Transaero airline by Russia’s flagship carrier Aeroflot, Transaero said in statement on Tuesday.

"For further development of the civil aviation and creation of one of the world's largest air transport groups the consolidation of JSC" Aviation Company Transaero into the Aeroflot group was supported /by the commission of the Russian government - TASS/," the company said in the statement.

According to the statement, the shareholders of Transaero hope this measure will promote the interests of passengers, employees and partners of the airline.

On Tuesday, the commission chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov approved the purchase 75% plus one share of Transaero by Aeroflot. Aeroflot confirmed the purchase of 75% plus one share of the airline. The cost of the transaction for the purchase of shares of Transaero will be 1 ruble ($0.015).

The deal should not lead to cuts of personnel in Transaero.

On Tuesday, an official with the Economic Development Ministry told TASS that the acquisition of Transaero by Aeroflot won’t lead to monopolization of the air travel market.
