KIEV, August 28. /TASS/. Ukraine lacks 1.5 million metric tons of coal for the heating season, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said Friday at a government meeting on Friday.
"A total of 120,000 tons of coal has been delivered to depots over the past week. Another 1.5 million is required, there is time for that," Demchishin said.
He said there will be no rolling power cuts.
The minister said "Ukraine is ready for the heating season."
For the coming winter, Ukraine needs to accumulate 3.2 million tons of coal until October 1, including 1.4 million tons of anthracite. As of August 21, coal reserves totaled about 1.3 million tons.
