RTS index down 2.8%, MICEX down 0.32% as Brent crude plunges

Brent crude oil plunged below $50 per barrel

MOSCOW, August 3. /TASS/. The MICEX index was down by 0.32% to 1663.74 points at the closing of trade on the Moscow Stock Exchange on Monday while RTS fell by 2.79% to 834.89 points.

The cost of the futures contracts of Brent crude oil for September delivery on London's ICE trading plunged by 4.5% to $49.94 per barrel on Monday, below $50 for the first time since January 2015.

The dollar exchange rate exceeded 63 rubles first since March 11, while the euro rose above 69 rubles for the first time since March 4.
