Eastern Economic Forum is expected to bring $580,000 to Far Eastern tourism industry

VLADIVOSTOK, July 29. /TASS/. The Primorye authorities expect that guests and participants of the 1st Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) due to take place in Vladivostok in September will bring more than $580,000 to the tourism industry of the region, regional administration said on Wednesday.

"On average, a guest will leave from $330 to $660 while in Primorye only on food, residence and transport. We do not count sightseeing, souvenirs and other costs. We have preliminary estimated that aggregate revenue that Primorye tourism industry will receive during the forum will stand at more than $580,000," the administration quoted tourism department head Konstantin Shestakov as saying.

More than 1,300 people have already registered to take part in the forum.

In May, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to hold the annual Vladivostok Eastern Economic Forum on September 3-5. The decree states that the decision on the forum was made "in order to facilitate the accelerated development of the Far East and the expansion of international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region."
