STRELNA, June 18. /TASS/. Russia should support domestic producers by regulating customs duties, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.

"It is necessary to flexibly use instruments of customs regulation at different stages," Putin said at the meeting with leaders of Russian industrial companies on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

"We must make everything possible to support the final producer that we can do without violating WTO [World Trade Organization] rules," Putin said, adding that flexible regulation is not always possible due to large numbers of lobbyists.

There is a lack of direct contacts for the solution of this problem, the president noted. He added that Ministry of Economic Development and Ministry of Industry and Trade should communicate with producers more actively.

Putin also supported the proposal made earlier to synchronize plans of the coutnry’s strategic development with separate regions.
