Hong Kong to continue talks with Russia on signing investment protection agreement

The official said that Hong Kong has already signed IPPAs with Myanmar and Bahrein and later this year will continue similar consultations with UAE and Russia

BOAO /China/, March 27. /TASS/. Hong Kong will continue talks with Russia on signing the Investment promotion and protection agreement (IPPA), Liang Zhenying, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, told the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2015 on Friday.

At present Hong Kong is taking steps to intensify relations with its Asian neighbors, he said.

The official said that Hong Kong has already signed IPPAs with Myanmar and Bahrein and later this year will continue similar consultations with UAE and Russia.

He added that Hong Kong's advantageous geographic location enables it to play the role of the southern gates of China.

Currently, Hong Kong accounts for about 20 % if China’s continental foreign trade turnover, he said.
