Major oil and gas fields can be discovered in Kazakhstan — exploration company

Russian multidiscipline geological holding company Rosgeo can act as a partner in implementation of geological projects in the territory of Kazakhstan

MOSCOW, March 12. /TASS/. The Russian state-owned geological company Rosgeo suggests stepping up exploration in Kazakhstan. The company believes major onshore and offshore oil and gas fields can be discovered there, Rosgeo deputy general director for science and looking-forward planning Alexey Solovyov said on Thursday.

The increment of global oil and natural gas reserves in 2014 became the lowest in the last 20 years, Solovyov said. The growth of global hydrocarbon resources is mainly attributed to offshore operations; no major onshore discoveries actually take place onshore, he added.

Kazakhstan is the nation where major onshore and offshore fields can be found, Solovyov said. Rosgeo can act as a partner in implementation of geological projects in the territory of Kazakhstan, he added.

Rosgeo is a Russian multidiscipline geological holding company providing the full range of exploration-related services, from regional studies to stratigraphic drilling and subsurface conditions monitoring. Rosgeo is wholly owned by the government.
