MOSCOW, February 2. /TASS /. The Russian Ministry of Economic Development sent an updated list of strategic companies to the government, Assistant Minister of Economic Development Elena Lashkina said on Monday.
"The updated draft list of strategic companies was submitted to the government," she said.
Deputy Minister of Economic Development Evgeny Elin said earlier that the updated federal list of strategic companies will be capped at 300 companies. It will actually remain unchanged as compared to the list prepared in 2008.
The Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said that the new list will particularly comprise the Russian steelmaking company Mechel, which is in a complicated financial position due to high debts to a number of the largest banks.
According to Elin, industry lists of strategic companies will be drawn up in addition to the federal lists in terms of budget sensitivity. Furthermore, regional lists of strategic companies will be settled at the regional level. It is assumed that all the three lists will not duplicate each other.
