BEIJING, January 16. /TASS/. China hopes that the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland on January 21-24 will be able to develop effective strategies for stabilizing global growth, China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Li Baodong said on Friday.

The World Economic Forum, the Geneva-based think-tank that organizes the annual get-together, said 2,500 politicians, executives, central bankers, religious leaders and others would convene to consider “The new global context” - the topic of this year’s meeting.

The Forum’s executive chairman, Klaus Schwab, said the world is at a crossroads between “a world of disintegration, hate, fundamentalism, and on the other hand a world of solidarity, of cooperation.”

Premier of the Chinese State Council Li Keqiang will attend the forum. “At the World Economic Forum, he will outline his views on the international situation and the latest trends in the world economy and will also tell the forum participants about the latest developments in the Chinese economy, including the reform policy,” said Li Baodong.

According to him, “China expects the forum participants to objectively analyze the current trends in the world economy and work out an appropriate strategy to ensure sustainable economic development.”

The Chinese premier is expected to meet in Davos with Russia’s delegation “Russia and China are liked by good-neighbourly relations,” the Chinese vice minister of foreign affairs told TASS.

Li Keqiang will pay a working visit to Switzerland in the period from 20 to 22 January at the invitation WEF Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab and the Government of the Swiss Confederation. He plans to hold talks with the country’s President Simonetta Sommaruga. According to Li Baodong, “in the course of the visit, the sides are expected to reach a number of agreements in the field of economy, finance, trade, science, as well as in the food and pharmaceutical industries.”.
