Gazprom still waiting for Naftogaz pre-payment for January gas supplies

“Gazprom supplies gas to Ukraine on pre-payment terms which means that they get as much gas as they pay for,” Gazprom’s Chief Alexey Miller said

ST.PETERSBURG, December 26 /TASS/. Gazprom is still waiting for pre-payments for January's gas supplies from Naftogaz, Ukraine’s state company for the producton, transportation and processing of oil and natural gas.

“Gazprom supplies gas to Ukraine on pre-payment terms which means that they get as much gas as they pay for,” Gazprom’s Chief Alexey Miller, who was present at the opening of Gazprom Export’s new office in St. Petersburg, told TASS on Friday.

Sergey Kupriyanov, Gazprom's official spokesperson, told journalists on December 24 that Gazprom had received $1.65 million from Ukraine in payment for its outstanding debt.

“But you certainly should understand that the question of pre-payment for January supplies remains open,” Kupriyanov said.
