MOSCOW, December 26. /TASS/. The Russian Sports Ministry’s spending in 2015 may be slashed by 10% due to the mooted state budget optimization, Minister Sports Vitaly Mutko said on Friday.

Mutko participated on Friday in the 4th session of the Executive Council of the Russia-2018 organizing committee, in charge of preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be hosted by Russia.

Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said on Thursday that as budget revenues were expected to decline next year, the government would have to use the Reserve Fund and increase the budget deficit.

“Obviously, with lower revenues and unchanged basic expenditures, we’ll propose deciding on tighter priorities next year,” Siluanov said.
