Ukraine to make advance payment to Gazprom for 1 bcm gas supply today or tomorrow

The prepayment is a technical issue and a working process which also depends from Ukrainian National Bank

KIEV, December 3. /TASS/. Ukraine will make an advance payment to Russian energy giant Gazprom for supplies of one billion cubic meters of gas today or tomorrow, Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coalmining Vladimir Demchishin told a news briefing on Wednesday.

“This week we plan to make an advance payment for one billion cubic metres which we plan to use within this month. I believe that this payment will be made today or tomorrow,” he said.

The prepayment is a technical issue and a working process which also depends from Ukrainian National Bank, Demchishin said.

On June 16, Gazprom has suspended gas delivery to Ukraine due to no advance payment from June supplies under the contract with Ukrainian energy major Naftogaz. After a discount Gazprom granted upon the results of tripartite talks in Brussels on October 30 the gas price for Ukraine makes $378 per one thousand cubic metres in the fourth quarter of 2014 and $365 in the first quarter of 2015.
