Mistral problem to have impact on military cooperation

According to Russian Ambassador at NATO Alexander Grushko, the situation will have an effect on Russia’s attitude to military cooperation with foreing partners

BRUSSELS, December 3. /TASS/. The unsettled problem of suspended delivery of French Mistral-class warships to Russia will have an impact on prospects for military cooperation with foreign partners, Russian Ambassador at NATO Alexander Grushko said on Wednesday.

“If to speak about the campaign launched in Western media over Mistrals and pressure that was put on France’s leaders, I would like to mention that many Western colleagues have not noticed one very important moment. The point is that the order for Mistrals showed Russia’s trust, a sign that even in security issues we were ready to rely on the partners,” Grushko said.

The situation will have an effect on Russia’s attitude to military cooperation with foreing partners, he added.

The contract to deliver two Mistrals to the Russian Navy was signed in 2011. One of the warships is ready, but France has not handed it over to Russia yet.
