Russian parliament speaker, Vietnamese official discuss strengthening of cooperation

State Duma's Speaker Sergey Naryshkin and GenSec of the Vietnamese Communist Party Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong touched upon cooperation in politics, economy and the military-technical sphere

HANOI, December 3. /TASS/. Russia’s State Duma (lower house) Speaker Sergey Naryshkin met with General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong on Wednesday to discuss the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.

For the first time in Vietnam “we feel sympathy from the Vietnamese people at every step. I should tell you that Russia feels sincerely and friendly to the Vietnamese people as an old reliable friend”, Naryshkin said.

He congratulated Nguyan Phu Tron on the agreements on cooperation in all fields — politics, economy and the military-technical sphere. The agreements were reached during the Vietnamese official’s visit to Russia last week.

Nguyen Phu Trong said Naryshkin was in Hanoi when relations between Russia and Vietnam and the parliaments developed actively. “I’m sure that your visit will strengthen relations between the parliaments of both countries and serve the expansion of comprehensive partnership between our countries,” he said.
