ASHGABAT, November 18. /TASS/. Turkmenistan will buy 1,492 Kamaz trucks and special machinery as well as spare parts to them to the tune of $125 million in Russian Republic of Tatarstan. Several ministries and closed joint stock society Nebitgazkhyzmat were permitted to sign specific contracts with company KAMAZ FTC Corp.LLP, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov said in a decree on Monday.
“Turkmenistan has established fruitful partnership with the Republic of Tatarstan successfully developing within inter-state dialogue with Russia,” Berdymukhamedov said signing the document. Vehicles of the Russian motor giant are used broadly in different industries in Turkmenistan and “showed its best side.”
As many as 8.85 thousand Kamaz trucks are used in Turkmenistan. Only during Berdymukhamedov’s presidency since 2007 more than 5.5 thousand trucks have been delivered in the country. A Kamaz trading and maintenance centre was set up in Ashgabat in 2008. Turkmen enterprises of water economic sector and oil and gas industry, Defence Ministry, Interior Ministry and border service are among major buyers of Kamaz machinery.
Tatar enterprises also deliver helicopters from Kazan plant and different equipment for the oil and gas industry to Turkmenistan.
