MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. Iran’s goal is to expand and develop relations with Russia, Iranian Ambassador in Moscow Mehdi Sanaei said on Wednesday.

“Relations between Iran and Russia develop consistently, although there have been ups and downs,” he said.

Trade turnover has been reduced over the previous years, Sanaei said. He expressed hope that from 2015 “we will observe growing trade.”

The presidents of both countries maintained “a good and pragmatic dialogue,” Sanaei said.

“Iran takes a principled position on relations with Russia. Tehran is now holding a serious dialogue with the West. The president (Hassan Rouhani) has a principled approach towards relations with Russia. Our goal is to expand them,” he said.

“Russia and Iran have common views on international relations. Our countries disagree with unilateral approaches. The unipolar world will bring nothing positive,” Sanaei said.
