Chile hopes for cooperation with Russia, CU in free trade zone - president

Putin, in his turn, said Russia and Chile “always had very good partner relations.”

BEIJING, November 9. /TASS/. Chile hopes for cooperation with Russia and the Customs Union countries in organisation of a free trade zone, Chile’s President Michelle Bachelet said during a meeting with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin on Sunday.

“We continue a dialogue on several very important issues,” she said, mentioning work on agreements on cooperation in education, fighting organised crime and drug trafficking, in energy, culture and defence. “We hope for wider and deeper cooperation.”

“We hope to fix the progress and to achieve practical understanding on issues of importance to us,” Chile’s president said. “We are interested in cooperation in working on an agreement on a free trade zone with Russia as well as with other members of the Customs Union.”

“We hope for your support in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Commission,” she said.

Putin, in his turn, said Russia and Chile “always had very good partner relations.”

“We have a very intensive political dialogue, and, of course, the relations should be amended by vast economic relations according to our opportunities,” the Russian president said.
