Russian Internet sale aggregators to fight counterfeit goods

A special service where any customer can file a claim will be launched, and in case the product is counterfeit the store will be obliged to delete it from all aggregators

MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Internet systems of goods search, including Russian Yandex.Market and Price.ru, have joined to fight against counterfeit goods, and the new platform, called Nota, will be launched on December 1, Price.ru’s Director Alexey Romanenkov told reporters.

“We decided to create a union of goods aggregators to be called Nota, which will enable customers to turn back a fake, submit a claim, get refund and get the licensed product,” Romanenkov said.

The association will unite Yandex.Market, Wikimart, Torg.Mail.ru, EBay, Price.ru and Rambler Co.

Nota will have a website, where the customer can file a claim with a receipt from a store where the product was bought. The claim will be sent to all participants of the market to take measures. In case some expert study is required, aggregators will ask producers and the consumer rights protection watchdog for assistance.

If the product is counterfeit, the store will be notified to delete the product from all aggregators simultaneously. The store will be deprived of an access to aggregators if it violates the rules twice.

Wikimart’s Director Maxim Faldin said that a counterfeit product is a pirate copy, and not the “grey” one. Pavel Aleshin, director of Yandex’ infrastructure services, said that other players of the market may join the association in the future.

The Nota platform will have no legal entity at its basis, Aleshin said.
