MOSCOW, September 23. /ITAR-TASS/. The State Duma can discuss and ratify the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty on September 26, head of the lower house’s Сommittee for CIS affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Slutsky said on Tuesday.
“The committee will propose the date — September 26 — to ratify the document,” he said.
On September 25, the draft treaty will be discussed by the Duma Committee for CIS Affairs. “Head of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko will attend the committee’s session,” Slutsky said.
The treaty on the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union was signed by the presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan on May 29 in Astana.
The Eurasian Economic Union, which envisages the free movement of goods, services, capital and workforce and is based on the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, will become operational from January 1, 2015.
