Russia’s Gazprom signs sales deal with Serbia’s GAS RES

BELGRADE, September 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian gas giant Gazprom has signed a direct sales agreement with Serbia’s GAS RES, Gazprom said in a statement Tuesday.

Under the terms of the deal, gas exports will be conducted via the existing pipelines since July 2015 until the launch of the South Stream pipeline designed to carry Russian gas to Europe bypassing Ukraine.

The inter-governmental agreement on construction of the Serbian branch of the South Stream is on an advanced stage of preparation, according to Gazprom’s statement.

In June, Bulgaria suspended preparations for the construction of the pipeline on orders from the EU authorities. They said that laying the pipeline must be suspended until the project is fully adjusted to the EU legislation.
