BAKU, September 08. /ITAR-TASS/. A date for talks between Russia, Ukraine and the EU on gas will be set before the end of this week, EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger told a press conference on Monday after an informal meeting of Eastern Partnership energy ministers.

Oettinger said he would meet with Ukrainian Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan later in the day.

The talks may be held within the next two weeks. The parties will work to find a compromise solution or an interim decision before October, the commissioner said.

Gas trilateral talks were suspended in June after Russia and Ukraine failed to agree on repayment of a $5.3 billion debt and gas prices. On June 16, Russia’s Gazprom switched Ukraine off gas supplies.
