Gazprom, Rosneft granted licences for blocks in Barents, Laptevs Seas

MOSCOW, August 07, 9:26 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Gazprom and Rosneft giants have been granted licenses for Heisovsky and Pritaymyrsky blocks of federal importance in the Barents Sea and the Laptevs Sea respectively without auction, said the cabinet’s documents.

Heisovsky block of 83,590 square meters has inferred D2 resources as of January 1, 2009: oil - 393.7 million tonnes of geological resources and 118.1 million tonnes of recoverable reserves, 32.6 million tonnes and 22.8 million tonnes respectively of condensate and 2,081.4 billion cubic meters of gas.

Pritaymyrsky block of 20,619 square meters has 348.6 million tonnes of oil in geological resources and 104.6 million tonnes in recoverable reserves and 362.8 billion cubic meters of gas.

According to the law on natural resources, Gazprom and Rosneft will pay one-off royalties of 1.071 billion rubles ($29.9 million) and 398.648 million rubles ($11.1 million) respectively.
