Industrial output in Ukraine’s Donetsk region slumps by 12% in January-May

In production of pharmaceutical goods the slump made 15,2%, of construction materials - by 16%, in machinery - by 32.5%

DONETSK, July 06. /ITAR-TASS/. The industrial output in Ukraine’s Donetsk region (major industrial area) dropped by 12.1% in January-May 2014 year-on-year, the country’s statistics authority reports.

The reduction was registered in production, transmission and distribution of electric energy - by 1.9%; in production of non-energy minerals - by six percent; in production of coke and oil refinery products - by 8.6%, in the coal industry - by 9.3%, in production of food, drinks and tobacco goods - by 11.8%, in the metallurgy sector - by 12.5%

In production of pharmaceutical goods the slump made 15,2%, of construction materials - by 16%, in machinery - by 32.5%, in the chemical industry - by 36.4%, and in the light industry - by 37.8%

Growth was registered in production of cast iron - by 1.9% Production of steel dropped by 10.3% year-on-year. The production of metal pipes declined by 15.5% to 136,300 tonnes.
