First Russian-Chinese bridge to be ready in 2016 — investment fund

SHANGHAI, May 20. /ITAR-TASS/. Construction of the first-ever bridge between Russia and China over the Amur River will start in the following months and will be completed by 2016, Chief Executive Officer of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev told journalists.

A memo concerning investments into the railway bridge project resulted from negotiations between the Russian and Chinese leaders in Shanghai, as well as two more memoranda about investments into a logistics company and tourism cooperation.

The bridge would cut the route for Russian exports to China by 700 kilometres and sharply increase Russian export, the official said, as 21 million tons of freight would be exported to China annually.
