MOSCOW, May 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Argentina’s accession to the BRICS, or an association of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, is hardly ever possible at the current stage, Russian Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak said on Tuesday.

“It is impossible because the forum has just been born,” he told ITAR-TASS. When asked whether Argentina could take part at least in the BRICS bank, he said that it was too early to raise such issues, since “the bank has not yet been established.”

Earlier, mass media quoted India’s Ambassador to Argentina, Amarenda Khatua, as saying that three out of the BRICS’ five member states wanted Argentina to join the bloc. These three, according to the Indian diplomat, included India, Brazil and South Africa.
