MOSCOW, April 30 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s consumer inflation rate picked up the pace of 0.2% in the period from April 22 through April 28, 2014, the Russian State Statistics Service said in its regular report, adding that the indicator has gained up by 0.9% since the beginning of April and grown by 3.2% since the beginning of the year.
In the period under review, an average daily hike in prices has made up 0.031%, thus slightly slowing down as against the March level when it amounted to 0.033% Therefore, the month’s inflation rate may be a bit above 0.9%
Over the same period of the preceding year, consumer prices had increased by 0.5% since the beginning of April and grown by 2.4% since January 1, 2013. In April 2013, the country’s inflation was estimated at 0.5%
On April 22 - April 28, 2014, the State Statistics Service registered the biggest growth of prices for pork (1.0%) and millet (0.7%). In addition, the prices of poultry, frozen fish, sausages, sterilized milk, butter, granulated sugar, chocolate-coated candies, tea and vodka increased by 0.3-0.5%
Simultaneously, average prices of eggs continued decreasing and went down by 1.3% over the period under review.
In the designated period, prices of fruit and vegetables grew by 0.3% on average across the country, the statistics says, adding that cabbage prices went up by 5.4%, and the prices of carrots, potatoes and onions grew by 1.1-1.5%
In the mean time, the Statistics Service registered 1.9-percent drop in cucumber prices, as well as 0.2-percent decline in tomato prices and 0.1-percent decrease in apple prices over the week from April 22 through April 28.
Over this period, the Russian statistics registered 0.2-percent growth of petrol prices and no changes in the diesel fuel prices on average across the country.
Since the beginning of the year, the State Statistics Service has registered the biggest growth of prices for cabbage (by 71.8%), onions (45.7%) and potato (40.7%). At the same time, the most noticeable reduction in the prices was fixed for eggs - 13.4%
