Government approves subsidies to Russian regions to offset costs for agro-producers

MOSCOW, January 30. /ITAR-TASS/. The government has approved subsidies to be provided in 2014 from the federal budget to Russian regions to offset costs for agricultural producers.

According to a government resolution put on the website, a total of 4.997 billion rubles will be provided to back up insurance contributions for horticulture and 950 million rubles will be allocated for livestock farming.

The federal budget will also provide 3.325 million rubles to support livestock breeding and 380 million rubles to develop breeding cattle.

In order to increase dairy sheep and goat population the budget will render 620.35 million rubles while 171 million rubles will be sent to expand the population of deer, red deer and herding horses.

Corresponding resolutions were put on the government’s website on Thursday. “Subsidies are being provided in compliance with the agreements between the Russian Agriculture Ministry, the federal authorities and Russian regions,” the government said.
